EPIC OF THE FORGOTTEN

The stage adaptation of Ivan Vazov’s great poetic work „Epic of the Forgotten“ is an inspiring performance about the heroes that history must not forget.
The production turns Vazov’s words into flesh and blood, presenting to the viewer the forgotten heroes – clergymen, revolutionaries, awakeners – people who built the Bulgarian national conscience through deeds and self-sacrifice. The figures of Benkovski, Kocho, the Zhekov Brothers, Kableshkov, Paisius, the Miladinov Brothers, Hadzhi Dimitar, Volov, Karadzhata and the Volunteers of Shipka become symbols of moral purity and idealism, a sharp counterpoint to today’s forgetfulness and indifference.
With contemporary stage language, a strong visual concept and emotional acting, the performance raises questions about memory, national identity and the responsibility of every generation towards the past.
