THE PLEVEN THEATRE IS A PARTNER IN A CONCEPT FOR
MODERNISING THE CULTURAL INFRASTRUCTURE OF THE COUNTRY
A concept for supporting the performing arts using the Integrated Territorial Investments (ITI) instrument under the „Development of the Regions“ Programme has successfully passed the check for administrative compliance and eligibility. The lead applicant is the „Krastyo Sarafov“ NATFIZ, and the Pleven "Ivan Radoev" Drama and Puppet Theatre is part of the consortium of partners.
The main idea of the investments in cultural and educational infrastructure in nine theatre complexes in the six planning regions of the country is to integrate the various cultural sites into one common goal of creating quality cultural centres.
For the realisation of all the activities of the concept, according to the partners, a total of BGN 7,812,850 in grant funding from the „Development of the Regions“ Programme is needed. A little over BGN 3.4 million of the grant funds will be invested in renewing the stage machinery and equipment at the theatre in Pleven and in training to use the supplied equipment. Own financing of BGN 218,400 (6%) is envisaged, bringing the total value of the investments in Pleven to BGN 3,640,000.
In addition to the new equipment for the educational units of NATFIZ, for the „Bulgarian Army“ theatre, for the „Aleko Konstantinov“ State Satirical Theatre and for the theatres in Plovdiv, Pleven, Veliko Tarnovo, Lovech, Targovishte and Kazanlak, the concept envisages the creation of a key register of the material and technical base of the performance venues in Bulgaria. The partner responsible for carrying out this activity is the Ministry of Culture, and the size of the investment is BGN 550,000.
A methodology will be developed for the national mapping of the material and technical base of theatres, musical theatres, operas, operettas, cinemas with stages and community centres, after which the study will cover all sites, regardless of the form of ownership. To this end, personal interviews and focus groups are planned.
The key register of the performance venues in Bulgaria will include information on the properties and ownership, a register of the stage and sound equipment, of the musical instruments and of the technical personnel. The collected information will be analysed in order to draw up proposals for improvements. A specification will be developed for the creation of software to process the information in the register.
