THE PATH OF SELF-ERASURE

A famous writer in the prime of his vital and creative powers receives an offer from a shadowy political structure to join the race for the presidency.

The offer comes like a bolt from the blue and at first seems absurd to the writer. Little by little, however, he begins to realise that, in the country’s current political configuration, a serious gap is opening up which he could fill, if he dares to take the challenge seriously.

The writer entertains the idea of running only after a clandestine representative of the political backstage, who deals in inside information, offers his services to promote his candidacy among a vast mass of voters.

Nor is it long before influential players of the deep state begin to regroup in support of his candidacy and declare their readiness to invest serious resources in his campaign.

Finally convinced of his real potential to win the hard-fought political contest, the writer succumbs at last to the temptation to enter the race for the presidency.

In the meantime, however, something disturbing, troubling, strange and inexplicable occurs, which threatens not only to throw a spanner in the works of his political career, but to change his life and destiny entirely and irreversibly.
