Balkan Syndrome

"Balkan Syndrome" is a performance about the final stage of the Bulgarian journey toward a new, better world. A mockery of our latest mess, but also a declaration of love for the drama of the ordinary person—the eternal victim of the endless social experiment. Stanislav Stratiev asks the truly vital questions for our nation:
Who are we... Why are we like this... Where are we going... Will we endure... Because he loves and, until his final days, believes in the tough, stubborn, indestructible, and resilient tribe that crossed the Danube, clinging to the tails of their small horses.
To move forward, my contemporaries, it is wise to frequently look at ourselves in his texts; to measure ourselves against the national ideas and ideals of our great authors; to rethink our path and direction through their characters; and to have a laugh, but also to empathize and dream a little with them.
