We, the people of the Balkans, love and hate fiercely, passionately, and to the extreme. We picture life as romantic and beautiful even as we fall into sin. Yovkov’s Albena awakens all of this in the souls of those she touches, while her pursuit of beauty and love turns into death and hatred. Her dream will crumble into the mud, triggering an avalanche of irreversible events.
